Shrek Revealed as Next Rainbow Six Operator With Special Ability “Get out of my Swamp” and Tactical Gadget “Heinous Fart”

It looks as though Ubisoft may have finally nailed the coffin shut on Rainbow Six Siege. The game that once featured actual special forces from various countries has, over time, slowly started adding more and more ridiculous elements to its shooter. These include moving holograms, a paraplegic operator (not even kidding), and now—brace yourselves—Shrek.

Yes, you read that right. The big green, mean ogre machine is set to launch later this year. But here’s the kicker: this DLC won’t be included in the season pass. Instead, it will only be unlocked by purchasing a pair of officially licensed Shrek Crocs. After snagging the Crocs, players will need to send a photo of themselves wearing them while watching Shrek the Third and get that photo verified to be eligible for the DLC. Ubisoft has dubbed this entire process "Shrekinomics."

Shrek himself brings a special ability guaranteed to deliver “never-before-seen levels of swamp-type gameplay.” When Shrek activates his signature “Get out of my swamp!” ability, all operators in the same room will suddenly find their screens hijacked by Smash Mouth’s All Star, and they’ll be forced to leave the area. If that doesn’t make you shudder with excitement, then brace yourself for his new tactical gadget, “Heinous Fart.” This gadget releases a deadly (but “oddly attractive”) aroma that, according to Ubisoft, will leave your enemies in utter “Shrekstasy.”

With all this going on, it’s hard to say if this move will bring players in—or send them running for the hills. After all, Call of Duty has raked in more money selling Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg skins than anything else, so from a business perspective, Ubisoft’s choice makes sense. But who knows? Maybe someday Ubisoft will release a character that isn’t a complete joke, just to do something different for once.

We reached out to a Ubisoft developer who worked on the project for comment. Unfortunately, they declined, offering only that they’d be too busy “begging God for forgiveness” to give an interview.
