Amazon Rebooting God of War TV Series—Now in Claymation, Kratos Voiced by Danny DeVito, and Atreus by Michael Cera

Amazon, the company that seemingly has 60 different video game adaptations in the works—yet not a single one seems to catch a break—has made a bold move with its God of War series. While their Fallout TV show somehow managed to succeed, their Sony-inspired God of War series is, well… on fire. Layoffs, rewrites, and now a complete production overhaul have taken this show in a direction no one expected.

In a move that can only be described as "unpredictable," Amazon executives have enlisted the producers of Chicken Run—yes, that “pretty good” claymation chicken movie from the ’90s—to transform God of War into a claymation series instead of the originally planned live-action show. The fifth director to join the project was quoted saying, “F**k you, I love Chicken Run,” when concerns about the viability of such a drastic shift were raised.

And the surprises don’t stop there. The internet’s collective jaw dropped when it was confirmed that Danny DeVito will voice Kratos, and Michael Cera will take on the role of Atreus. According to early test screenings, these casting choices have received sky-high approval ratings.

But, before we get too excited, there’s some concern that these ratings may not accurately reflect real-world reactions. When a Gen Z student was asked for their opinion, they offered this insight: “If they can convince Amazon to do this, it’ll be even funnier than when they convinced Sony to re-release Morbius in theatres a second time.”
